Man, 55, convicted of animal cruelty

Allen County Prosecutor Karen Richards argued a case of animal cruelty Tuesday.

Richards presented the felony case against Larry Knox, who was accused of kicking a stray cat that had wandered into his home.

Knox called police himself to report the injuries to the cat.

Knox, 55, waived his right to a jury trial and the case was heard by Allen Superior Court Judge Wendy Davis, who convicted him in the brief trial.

The cat, which suffered a dislodged tooth, a wound to its tongue and a scrape to its chin, survived and was later adopted, officials said.

Davis ordered Knox taken into custody after the conviction because he has multiple prior felony convictions.
