And Another Thing

The Miami verdict: "U" turn

A day later, and still I'm waiting for the outrage.

Waiting. Waiting. Waaaiii-ting.

Nope. Got nothin'.

And if that's not an earthshaking indictment of the reputation of the NCAA these days, I don't what is. The guardians of collegiate athletics just came down on Miami with whatever is the opposite of both feet, and my only response is a shrug.

Meh. It's the NCAA. It's the corporate level of college athletics. You were expecting maybe logic, fairness, consistency?

Sure, losing nine scholarships looks absurd when you stack it up against what USC got -- 30 lost schollys -- especially when you consider USC was just about Reggie Bush's house and Miami was about Nevin Shapiro basically ransacking the entire athletic department. And former basketball coach Frank Haith getting a five-game sitdown while former Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson and former Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl got run out of the college game for far less is beyond absurd.

But, again. It's the NCAA. It's college athletics. And the former long ago lost control of the latter.

So, sorry. I got nothin'. After all, you can't build a cesspool and then profess outrage that it's a cesspool.
