Woman says singer gave drug

Cee Lo Green was charged on Monday with giving a woman Ecstasy at a Los Angeles restaurant, but prosecutors declined to file a rape count against the singer because of insufficient evidence.

Green, 38, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, was expected to be arraigned later in the day on one felony count of furnishing a controlled substance. He could face four years in prison if convicted.

Green was pleased that the rape charge was rejected and will address the Ecstasy charge in court, his attorney Blair Berk wrote in a statement.

“Mr. Green encouraged a full and complete investigation of those claims and he was confident once conducted he would be cleared of having any wrongful intent,” Berk wrote. She declined to comment further.

Prosecutors claim Green gave the woman Ecstasy in July 2012.

Newton boat sinks

Authorities are investigating the sinking of a yacht owned by Las Vegas entertainer Wayne Newton at a Lake Mead marina.

National Park Service spokeswoman Christie Vanover said Monday that the 65-foot vessel sank stern-first in 45 feet of water while it was in a slip at the Temple Bar marina.

Vanover says no one was on the boat, and no injuries are reported.

McCrone says Newton and his wife were vacationing out of the country when the boat sank Friday.
