Motorcyclist critical after car crash by Northcrest

A motorcyclist was critically injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon near Northcrest Shopping Center.

The motorcycle driver was westbound in the 700 block of East Coliseum shortly before 1:30 p.m. when a woman driving a vehicle eastbound on Coliseum Boulevard turned left into the shopping center, said Michael Joyner, Fort Wayne Police Department spokesman.

The motorcycle struck the woman’s vehicle on the passenger side.

The woman was not injured, but a passenger riding in the front seat had minor injuries. The passenger refused medical attention at the scene, Joyner said.

The motorcyclist, who was first listed in serious condition, was transported to a local hospital where he was downgraded to critical condition.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, Joyner said.

The woman told police she did not see the motorcyclist.
