  • Wolcottville player invited to prospects game
Karch Bachman of Wolcottville was one of 42 players selected to compete in the CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game on Sept. 25 in Buffalo, New York.

And the captain is ...

The Komets' captain has been selected and it's Nick Tuzzolino.

The alternates are Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock, who has the honor for the fourth straight season, and Brandon Marino.

"It was a shock the other day when (coach Gary Graham) decided to tell us. We were in a team video session. I was really delighted," said Tuzzolino, a 27-year-old defenseman.

"I'm excited to get another chance to do it in my career. In Fort Wayne, wearing the 'C' is such a tradition with a guy like Colin Chaulk having done it; he was here for so many years and had so many championships."

Tuzzolino has been a captain before -- with Utah of the ECHL in 2011-12 -- but because he kept getting called up to the American Hockey League, he and his coach mutually decided someone else should be the captain that season.

"I don't know if I have a leadership style," he said. "I'm just going to be me. That's what got me to this point. I want to lead by example and play the way I play every single night. Am I vocal? I'm a positive guy and talk every night. But it's pro hockey and everyone need to show up every day and do their jobs."
