News and notes
- Purdue (1-5, 0-2) hopes to avoid its first 1-6 start since the 1993 season, when the Boilermakers finished 1-10 overall. Michigan State (5-1, 2-0) hopes for consecutive Big Ten home wins after breaking a streak of conference losses at Spartan Stadium that stretched all of the 2012 season.
- Danny Etling will make the second start of his career today, and almost half of the traveling roster for Purdue was made up of freshman or first-year players. Although coach Darrell Hazell said he and his team haven't given up on this season, it looks like a move that will help get those young players valuable experience and prime them for next year.
