IPFW runners, basketball honored

Two cross country runners and a women's basketball player were recognized this week by the Summit League.

Julie Jeszensky and Chris Rudolph swept conference Runners of the Week honors, and Amanda Hyde was named the Summit League's preseason Player of the Year.

Jeszensky, a senior out of New Carlilse, helped the Mastodons to a fifth-place finish in the Disney Cross Country Classic by placing 24th overall with a season-best time of 19:00.23. Rudolph, a Wayne graduate, led the Mastodons to an eighth-place finish at the Walt Disney World Classic by placing 37th in 27:17.04. That was his season-best by more than a second-and-a-half.

Hyde, the 2012-13 Summit League Player of the Year, and second-team preseason selection Haley Seibert lead a Mastodons team that was picked to finish fourth in the conference. Defending league champion South Dakota State was picked to repeat.
