IU offensive lineman Peyton Eckert done for season

IU junior right tackle Peyton Eckert, who has been battling a back injury throughout the year, will miss the remainder of the season.

Coach Kevin Wilson announced the news during the Big Ten teleconference Tuesday.

Eckert, a 6-foot-6, 310-pound junior, has not played a game this season after starting at right tackle the past two years. He has a redshirt year available, although Hoosiers coach Kevin Wilson was noncommittal about whether Eckert would use that year of eligibility in previous interviews.

IU has lost Eckert, starting guard Dan Feeney (lisfranc injury) and backup guard David Kaminski (ACL tear) to injury so far this season. Although Ralston Evans, Eckert's backup, and Jake Reed, who took Feeney's spot, were injured during the Hoosiers' game against Michigan State, they are likely to play against Michigan.
