Pence appoints lobbyist Ind.’s new Medicaid chief

– Gov. Mike Pence has named a new director for Indiana’s Medicaid program.

Pence announced Thursday that William Joseph Moser is scheduled to begin running the program Nov. 18. That post is currently vacant.

The state is expecting a jump in enrollment under the federal health care overhaul. Residents who qualify but are not yet enrolled in Medicaid are expected to join the state rolls because of the individual coverage mandate.

Moser is leaving a job lobbying for the Medicaid Health Plans of America, a group representing the insurance companies which offer Medicaid plans. Moser is a graduate of Terre Haute North Vigo High School and Marian University in Indianapolis.
