Gas station holdup brings guilty plea

A man accused of holding up a gas station with the threat that he had a gun pleaded guilty Thursday to robbery.

Kevin Lyons, 46, of the 3400 block of Bramblewood Lane, pleaded guilty in Allen Superior Court without the benefit of a plea agreement.

According to court documents, Lyons approached a clerk behind the counter of the Lassus Handy Dandy station at Lima and West Washington Center roads early one morning in August.

He demanded $40 then reached into his pants while threatening to shoot the clerk.

Lyons, though, never flashed a gun, only suggested he had one.

The clerk described Lyons’ car to police, and officers quickly tracked him down at his home and arrested him.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced next month.
