Heart walk raises more than $170,000

The Northeast Indiana Heart Walk last month raised more than $170,000 to fight heart disease and stroke, the American Heart Association said today.

More than 1,000 people participated in the Sept. 14 event at Ivy Tech Northeast's North Campus, the association said in a statement.

The total of $171,085 both exceeded the event's goal of $150,000 and last year's total of $124,000, the statement said.
