Purdue women's soccer player honored by Big Ten

Purdue women's soccer player Maddy Williams, a freshman forward, earned Big Ten offensive and co-freshman of the week honors.

Williams scored two game-winning goals for the Boilermakers in wins against Illinois on Friday and Northwestern on Sunday. The freshman became the first Purdue player to get consecutive game-winning goals in Big Ten play since 2001.

Williams, a Perrysburg, Ohio, native, is one goal away from tying the record for goals by a Purdue freshman. This was her first Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor.

Tarah Hobbs of Minnesota was defensive player of the week and got the other side of the co-freshman award.
