And Another Thing

Your Not Exactly A Rant Moment

Social media being the all-seeing, omnipresent thing it is, we've grown enamored of what everyone likes to call "rants" these days.

Here's the problem: Hardly anyone can differentiate anymore between actual rants and something that's not a rant at all, but gets dumped in the same bin by bloggers and other quasi-journalists too lazy or not discerning enough to recognize the difference.

So what is the difference?

A quick primer:

1. Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy's much anthologized "I'm a man, I'm 40" postgame eruption was a rant.

2. This is not.

No. 2 is only Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads making an impassioned (and totally awesome) defense of his players after the Cyclones got their wallets lifted by the officials in a 31-30 loss to Texas. Every coach should be this eloquent in the postgame. It's the postgame of the year if not of the millennium.

But it's not a rant. OK?
