No. 4 Cavs draw Luers in tennis

No. 4 Canterbury’s road to the boys tennis state finals again runs through Homestead.

The Cavaliers, who took down the Spartans in the Homestead sectional last season, may have to do so again when IHSAA sectional play starts Wednesday. Canterbury faces Bishop Luers at 4:15 p.m. in the sectional, while Homestead takes on Wayne on the other end of the bracket. The winners play Thursday at 4:15 p.m. for the sectional title.

Boys soccer

CARROLL 15, COLUMBIA CITY 0: The Chargers won their first outright NHC title since 2003 with a slew of goals. Thirteen Carroll players scored goals.

DEKALB 4, BELLMONT 2, OT: Junior forward Brennan Cochran recorded a hat trick to get the Barons the win despite 19 saves from Bellmont’s Caleb Schell.

HOMESTEAD 10, NORWELL 0: Senior Anthony Jimenez scored five goals and had an assist as the Spartans rolled at home.

Girls soccer

EAST NOBLE 4, NEW HAVEN 0: Knights senior Melissa Huff had three goals on three assists from freshman Taylor Rex.

Volleyball

ADAMS CENTRAL 3, NORWELL 0: Abby Snyder had 10 digs and four kills, Madi Schwartz had 4 1/2 blocks and 19 assists, and the Flying Jets took a 25-15, 25-23, 25-10 win.
