INDIANAPOLIS – The athletic director of an Indianapolis high school says a football game brawl escalated when two opposing coaches got involved.
Indianapolis Tech athletic director Victor Bush told The Indianapolis Star Monday (http://indy.st/16QJvGx ) that a fight among players was “restrained” and the game was going to resume Friday until a Tech volunteer assistant coach and a Fort Wayne South Side coach began fighting.
Indiana High School Athletic Association Commissioner Bobby Cox will meet with administrators of the two schools Tuesday to determine any punishments resulting from the brawl. The game was stopped in the third quarter with Tech ahead 24-6.
Bush said the meeting also will address fans running onto the field.
The Fort Wayne Community Schools district has said it will cooperate with the IHSAA investigation and conduct its own.
