GoldAndBlack.com, the Purdue affiliate of the Rivals network, reported a commitment from senior forward Jacquil Taylor late Monday.
Taylor is a 6-foot-9 power forward who cut his college list to the Boilermakers, North Carolina A&T and St. Joseph's (Pa.) in the afternoon Monday. His decision came on the heels of a few more recruiting moves, including Purdue target Ronnie Harrell's decision to go to Creighton.
Taylor is a three-star prospect and No. 240 in the country according to the 247Composite, a service by 247Sports.com that aggregates the rankings of the major recruiting sites. The move seemed a formality after Ben Bentil, a top-100 player in the 2014 class and a power forward, committed to Providence on Monday. The Friars were considered the leader for Taylor, with Purdue sitting behind them.
Coach Matt Painter has commitments from Dakota Mathias and Vince Edwards, two 2014 prospects out of Ohio who will fill in at shooting guard and small forward, respectively. Mathias, a 6-4 scorer, is No. 199 in 2014, while Edwards, a 6-7 wing, is No. 115.
The staff's lone remaining target in this cycle at the moment is Jabari Craig, a 6-foot-10 center who is No. 163 in the class.
