•The United Methodist Women of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 2417 Getz Road, will have a rummage sale from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday.

Huntington University, along with the North America Coalition for Christian Admission Professionals, will have a college fair with nearly 40 Christian college and university representatives from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Emmanuel Community Church, 12222 U.S. 24 W. For information, go to

First Christian Church, 4800 S. Calhoun St., will have a pulled pork fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 5. Cost is $9 adults, $5 children and free for ages 5 and younger.

University of Saint Francis, 2701 Spring St., will have a prayer service commemorating Saint Francis’ passing into heaven at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Saint Francis Chapel. Mass will be celebrated in the chapel at 12:05 p.m. Friday. On Oct. 6, a Blessing of Pets in honor of Saint Francis will be at 6 p.m. in front of the Brookside building.

Philoptochos and Daughters of Penelope of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 110 E. Wallen Road, is accepting orders through Oct. 27 for its holiday bake sale. Cost is $5 sweet bread; $12 small pan of baklava; $22 large pan of baklava; and $8.50 cheese or spinach pites. To place an order, call 459-9471; orders must be prepaid. Pickup dates are Nov. 22 and Nov. 23.

The Rev. Kevin C. Rhoades, bishop of the Fort Wayne-South Bend Roman Catholic Diocese, will have a white Mass for all medical professionals at 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1702 E. Wallen Road. A dinner will follow the service and will feature Dr. Dede Byrne, a surgeon and colonel in the U.S. Army. Bishop Rhoades will also have a red Mass for lawyers, judges and civil government officials at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Archbishop Noll Center, 915 S. Clinton St. A dinner will follow the service with speaker Robert P. George, professor of jurisprudence at Princeton University.

Restoration Center Church of God In Christ, 5522 McClellan St., will have its Founders Day Celebration at 3 p.m. Oct. 5 with guest pastor Ron Pulliam and at 5 p.m. Oct. 6 with guest pastor Scott Jefferson.

•The Mennonite Choral society will begin weekly rehearsals at 7 p.m. Tuesday for “Handel’s Messiah,” which will be performed Dec. 7 and 8 at the First Mennonite Church, 566 W. Main St. in Berne. All singers welcome; no tryouts.

First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, Ohio, will have an “Autumn Evening Concert” by organist Harriet Schaadt and pianist David Van Tilburg at 4 p.m. Oct. 6. The concert is free.

•Jaki Schreier has been named the executive director of the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation. She will assume the role Tuesday. Schreier takes over for Doris Fogel, who is retiring and moving to the Chicago area.

Christian Theological Seminary has awarded the Rev. Deborah Davis of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Angola a $49,684 Lilly Endowment Clergy Renewal Programs grant.

Book published

John Morrow, an associate professor of Spanish and French at Ivy Tech Community College Northeast, has published the book “The Covenants of the Prophet Muhammad with the Christians of the World.” The book, which was released Friday, looks at covenants Muhammad made with Christian communities.
