Northrop routs Canterbury in boys soccer

– The unranked rose up in boys soccer Thursday.

Behind Cameron Fox’s shutout in goal and two goals apiece from Josh Mahon and Gordan Duras, visiting Northrop routed No. 15 Canterbury 5-0 in boys soccer. Steve Gonzalez scored the third goal and Mahon assisted on three goals for the Bruins.


HOMESTEAD 5, COLUMBIA CITY 0: The Spartans clinched the NHC title, finishing 7-0 in conference. Mitch Gray, Jordan Andrews and Sang Jun Park won in singles.

CARROLL 5, NORWELL 0: Alex Houser, Austin Legere and Mason Hicks won in singles for Carroll. The Chargers dropped just one set.

Boys soccer

WOODLAN 5, HERITAGE 1: Zin Min had a hat trick and Su Hei and I Sar also scored for the Warriors.

DEKALB 2, NORTH SIDE 1: Brad Lancaster and Brennan Cochran scored second-half goals for the Barons, who outshot North, 18-11.

WAYNE 1, LOGANSPORT 0: Jesus Diaz scored the game’s only goal in the second half.

BISHOP LUERS 3, CONCORDIA 1: Jake Schifflet, Riley Bubb and Seth Caldwell scored second-half goals to pace Class A No. 2 Luers.

Girls soccer

BISHOP LUERS 3, CONCORDIA 0: Annie Whitman, Kennedy Brough and Maddie Strack scored for Luers. Lydia Brown made four saves to get the shutout.

CENTRAL NOBLE 2, WEST NOBLE 1: Tiffany Simcox scored both goals for Central Noble.


CONCORDIA 3, BISHOP LUERS 2: At Concordia, Tionna Williams blasted 20 kills and Erica Shively 18 to lead the Cadets to a 25-21, 25-21, 20-25, 24-26, 15-8 win. Williams also had 24 digs.

CHURUBUSCO 3, CANTERBURY 1: Danielle Pippenger had eight kills, 19 digs and three blocks to lead Churubusco to a 23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-22 win.

HERITAGE 3, NORTH SIDE 2: Haley Hoffman had 15 kills and Jessica Franke 19 digs and 31 assists as the Patriots went the distance against North, 15-25, 25-22, 26-24, 22-25, 18-16.
