Recent shootings declared homicides, coroner rules

County's total reaches 33 for year

The fatal shootings in Fort Wayne on Saturday and Thursday have been declared homicides, the 32nd and 33rd of the year in Allen County, the county coroner's office said today.

On Saturday, Jordan L. Calland, 22, of Fort Wayne was shot in the 2700 block of Paulding Road and died from a gunshot wound or wounds, the coroner's office said in a statement.

The victim of Thursday's shooting in the 8300 block of Bridgeway Drive has not been identified, the statement said. It said that victim also died from a gunshot wound or wounds.

Both homicides are under investigation by Fort Wayne police, the coroner's office and the county prosecutor's office.
