Donnie Hale plans transfer from Purdue basketball

Redshirt sophomore forward Donnie Hale, a New Albany native, plans to leave the Purdue basketball program, coach Matt Painter announced Friday.

The 6-foot-8, 221-pound underclassman will look to move closer to home and seek more playing time at another institution, a release from the Purdue athletics department said. Hale averaged 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 32 games and eight starts for the Boilermakers in the 2012-13 season.

"We thank him for his hard work and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors," Painter said in a statement.
