1 dead, 1 hurt in NW Ohio home explosion

LIBERTY CENTER, Ohio – Authorities say a house explosion in northwest Ohio killed a woman and injured a man.

The director of the Henry County Emergency Management Agency said the explosion occurred Wednesday morning in Liberty Township, about 30 miles southwest of Toledo.

Director Tracy Busch said the injured man was taken by helicopter to a Toledo hospital. The names of the victims and the man’s condition were not immediately available.

No other injuries were reported.

Busch said the cause of the explosion has not been determined. He says the homes on either side of the house were evacuated and had some structural damage.

Busch said investigators from the state fire marshal’s office were on the scene in the township near Liberty Center.
