Three people were arrested Monday evening, accused of selling heroin and other illegal drugs across the street from a Warsaw city park that hosts youth football leagues and cheerleading.

Undercover Warsaw police officers made a controlled purchase of heroin at a residence in the 500 block of East Market Street after receiving a tip about drug activity following an overdose, the police department said in a statement issued Tuesday.

A search yielded about 5 grams of heroin and 100 grams of marijuana from the home in Warsaw and a Syracuse residence, police said.

Three people were arrested:

  • Debbie Watson, 36, of Warsaw, is charged with dealing in a Schedule 1 controlled substance and possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance.
  • Shaun Hinson, 34, of Akron, Ind., is charged with dealing in a Schedule 1 controlled substance and felony possession of marijuana.
  • Nicholas Richcreek, 27, of Syracuse, is charged with dealing in a Schedule 1 controlled substance and possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance.
The charges were enhanced to Class A felonies because the drug activity was near the park, police said.

Warsaw Police Department takes drug tips at 574-372-9540.
