Coats, Stutzman eulogize Pond

Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., and Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd, were among elected leaders who paid tribute this week to Rep. Phyllis Pond, R-New Haven.

Pond, a 35-year member of the Indiana House, died Sunday.

Coats said in a statement that Pond “was a true friend and someone who dedicated her life to public service. She faithfully represented the interests of Hoosiers in her district.”

Stutzman, a former Indiana House member, said in a statement: “As a teacher with a lifelong passion for education, Phyllis’ sincerity and commitment were clear to everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her. Hoosiers have lost an extraordinary leader and she will be missed.”
