Evansville officer hurt in squad car crash

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – An Evansville police officer has been hospitalized after crashing his squad car.

Police say Officer Jeff Minto was responding to a call Friday morning when he lost control of the car on wet pavement and struck a utility pole. The injured officer was the only one inside the vehicle.

Police said the impact was at the driver’s door of the car, and Minto struck his head on the door post and window. He suffered concussion-like symptoms and several abrasions and bruises. Minto was wearing a seat belt at the time.

Police said Minto was conscious at the scene and was expected to be released from a hospital later Friday.
