How the major stock indexes fared on Friday

The down day on Friday ended a week where major indexes set new all-time highs on Wednesday. The major indexes finished the week higher, and are still up 4 percent or more for the month.
It was the second day in a row that the Standard & Poor's 500 index declined. The last time that happened was Aug. 26-27.
All 10 industry groups in the S&P 500 fell.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 185.46 points, or 1.19 percent, to close at 15,451.09.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 12.43 points, or 0.72 percent, to 1,709.91.
The Nasdaq composite fell 14.66 points, or 0.39 percent, to 3,774.73.
For the week:
The Dow is up 75.03 points, or 0.49 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 21.92 points, or 1.30 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 52.55 points, or 1.41 percent.
For the year so far:
The Dow is up 2,346.95 points, or 17.91 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 283.72 points, or 19.89 percent.
The Nasdaq is up 755.22 points, or 25.01 percent.
