Northrop shuts out Norwell in boys soccer

– Northrop’s Sam Fisher scored three goals in a 6-0 home win over Norwell in boys soccer Wednesday.

Also scoring for the Bruins were Josh Mahon, Steve Gonzalez and Mo Abdirahman.

Josh Mahon added three assists.

Boys soccer

WAWASEE 6, COLUMBIA CITY 1: The visiting Warriors scored all six of their goals in the first half.

Wawasee improved to 3-1-2.

Girls soccer

HERITAGE 2, NEW HAVEN 0: The Patriots remained undefeated with the home win.

Heritage improved to 8-0-3, while New Haven fell to 2-8-1.

Karson Gardner and Anna Franke picked up the goals for the Patriots.

ANGOLA 2, WEST NOBLE 1: Sara Joergensen and Nicole Silverhart scored for the host Hornets in the NECC tournament.

Beni Murillo scored for the Chargers.

CARROLL 5, NORTHROP 0: Amber Hoot had two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Chargers.

Matea Knispel added three assists and a goal.

Tennis

CANTERBURY 5, EAST NOBLE 0: The host Cavaliers had some close calls despite the final score.

Fourth-ranked Canterbury won the two doubles slots in close matches, with Chad Schouweiler and Ankur Lal winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles and Michael Wang and Ben Parry-Lemon winning 6-1, 2-6, 7-5 at No. 2 doubles. Also, Tom Filus won at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-1.

LEO 5, NORTHROP 0: Drake Lamont and Riley Stuart battled for their win at No. 2 doubles for the host Lions.

Lamont and Stuart beat Northrop’s Tyler Jordan and Gavin Neyman, 6-3, 0-6, 6-4.

FREMONT 4, CENTRAL NOBLE 1: Brandan Arnos got a big win at No. 3 singles for the host Eagles.

Arnos beat Caleb Harlan, 6-2, 6-4.

Volleyball

HOMESTEAD 3, HUNTINGTON NORTH 2: The visiting Spartans outlasted the Vikings in five games, 20-25, 25-23, 25-8, 20-25, 17-15.

Suzanne Peters and Jennifer Redden each had 12 kills for Homestead.
