Fort Wayne spay-neuter group receives honor

HOPE for Animals announced it has been honored with the 2013 Top-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, a provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.

"We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including serving over 10,000 pet owners with low cost spay/neuters, vaccines and wellness services so far," executive director Madeleine Laird said in a statement.

"Additionally, HOPE completed two important projects this year: Snip By Zip and Neuter Haven. We were able to spay or neuter over 350 pit bull type dogs residing in the 46806 ZIP code. Our Neuter Haven project allowed us to sterilize over 200 free roaming cats at no cost to the city. Hopefully, this is the beginning of providing humane options for feral cats."

The top-rated nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that HOPE for Animals earned from volunteers, donors and clients.

HOPE for Animals (Humane Organization to Prevent Euthanasia) is a tax-exempt, nonprofit animal welfare group dedicated to eliminating the euthanasia of healthy adoptable cats and dogs.
