City has 2 finalists for ’14 top teacher

Two local educators were named top 10 finalists for the Teacher of the Year award Monday.

Sarah Shatto-Jones, a visual arts teacher at Homestead High School, and Emily J. Oberlin, a world history teacher at South Side High School, were named finalists.

Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz announced the top 10 finalists for the 2014 Teacher of the Year. The winner will be announced in October.

Other finalists: Susan Ament, Plainfield Community School Corporation; Lauren Kniola, Metropolitan School District of Pike Township; Susan E. Panzica, South Bend Community School Corporation; Steven R. Perkins, Metropolitan School District of Washington Township; Kelly Jean Scott, Muncie Community Schools; Denise E. Selm, Richmond Community Schools; Meg Strnat, Hamilton Southeastern Schools; and Renee White, Carmel Clay Schools.
