    IPFW women’s soccer opened their season with a 3-0 loss at Ball State on Aug. 22, but hopes to turn it around with their home opener against Detroit on Saturday at Hefner Field.

    Last season was a forgettable one for the IPFW men’s soccer team – it went 1-15-1 – but the Mastodons didn’t look like a one-win team Saturday against Xavier in the Shindigz National Soccer Festival.

Volleyball loses

Emily Spencer had a match-high 12 kills, while Pegues had 11. Kendall Wienkes chased had eight kills. In all, IPFW (6-6) had 38 total kills to 37 for Eastern Michigan. Madison Spence dished out 36 assists, while Jen Milligan's 16 digs were also a match-high. Hailie Ripley had three blocks for the Mastodons - three of those solo.

The Mastodons return to action in the weekend when the squad will face off against Oakland and Northern Illinois on Friday at the Northern Illinois Invitational.
