3 matchups to watch

IU running game vs. Bowling Green run defense: Running backs Tevin Coleman and Stephen Houston combined for 15 carries and 64 yards against Navy, while quarterback Nate Sudfeld led the Hoosiers in rushing with 35 yards on six runs. Bowling Green has an experienced group on defense and commits itself to stopping the run first.

IU defensive line vs. Bowling Green offensive line: The Hoosiers got no push against Navy, and that turned into 444 rushing yards for the Midshipmen in a 41-35 Week 2 loss. Bowling Green is in the top 50 in rushing yards (36th with 226 per game) and points (42nd with 37.5 per game).

IU secondary vs. Bowling Green sophomore quarterback Matt Johnson: Johnson has two touchdowns, 254 yards per game and a pick after two games and has averaged 10.6 yards per attempt against Tulsa and Kent State. Against a Golden Flashes team that won 11 games last year, the Harrisburg, Pa., native was 19 for 25 with 357 passing yards and two touchdowns in a 41-22 road win. Johnson can also run a bit: he had 50 yards against Tulsa and a 19-yard rush against Kent State.

Prediction: IU should be able to bounce back against a team that is more conventional than Navy and has less talent than the Hoosiers. The defense should be good enough, and the offense, as always, will be productive.
