Charges mount for bait shop suspect

Eyer

Additional burglary and theft charges have been filed against a Pierceton man now suspected in three recent burglaries and an auto theft in Kosciusko County, the county sheriff’s department said Friday.

Joshua Todd Eyer, 28, of Pierceton is being held in the county jail in lieu of $15,000 bail, the sheriff’s department said.

He has been charged with two additional burglary and two additional theft charges, police said.

Eyer was stopped Thursday morning after a report that someone was trying to burglarize the Number One Bait and Tackle Store at Indiana 13 and County Road 350 North, police said.

Officers from North Webster, Pierceton and the sheriff’s department responded to the 6:21 a.m. call. A Pierceton officer stopped Eyer just east of Indiana 13 at County Road 200 North, police said.

The sheriff’s department said Eyer tossed a stolen gas can out of the vehicle before he was stopped. He was preliminarily charged Thursday with felony theft and attempted burglary of a business.
