Chargers too much for Barons

Carroll scored three second-half goals to pull away from visiting DeKalb to win 5-1 in boys soccer Thursday.

The Class 2A No. 16 Chargers (10-0-2, 3-0) led 2-1 at halftime and got goals from Bayden Lee, Tyler Sidwell and Zach Tom to open up the advantage. Sidwell and Tom had goals in the first half.

Class 2A No. 12 DeKalb (8-2-0, 2-2) got its lone goal from Brennan Cochran.

Golf

CARROLL 181, DEKALB 194: The Chargers finished the NHC regular-season schedule 6-0 after the win at Willow Ridge. Sarah Banister led Carroll with a 41. Katie Skidmore had a 44 for the Barons.

Boys soccer

NORTHROP 4, CONCORDIA 0: The Bruins scored three times in the first half to help get the road win. Northrop goals came from Mo Abdirahman, Nathan Dove, Josh Mahon and Sam Fisher.

Girls soccer

DEKALB 2, CARROLL 1: The host Barons won in the second round of penalty kicks, 1-0. Regulation goals came from Erika Myers for Carroll and Katie Hamlin for DeKalb.

HERITAGE 3, NORTH SIDE 0: Bianca Suarez had two goals and an assist to lead the visiting Patriots. McKenzie Brown added a goal and an assist for Heritage.

Tennis

ANGOLA 5, WEST NOBLE 0: The Hornets improved to 7-1 with the home win.

SOUTH SIDE 5, WAYNE 0: Nate and Nick Thomas won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles for the host Archers. Nate Thomas won 6-0, 6-0, and Nick Thomas won 6-0, 6-1.
