Oh, this just gets better and better.
The fallout from the NASCAR Sprint Cup race last week at Richmond -- which now appears to have featured more rigging than an America's Cup yacht -- has gathered up Joey Logano and David Gilliland, whose crews engaged in some mighty suspicious scanner chatter as the laps ran down.
Sure sounds as though Gilliland lifted his foot and allowed Logano to pick up another position, a heartwarming show of Ford solidarity. Logano, of course, denies this, saying he made the Chase legit and the scanner chatter was just normal scanner chatter.
Um, OK. Even if, in other news, NASCAR president Mike Helton has mysteriously begun answering to the name "Vince McMahon," we'll take Logano's word that there really wasn't a WWE-style script involved.
Or how peculiar it is that the pre-Chase point standings suddenly look like this:
1. Matt Kenseth
2. Jimmie Johnson
3. Triple H
4. Kyle Busch
5. The Rock
