Mad Ants guard Ron Howard will have a second chance to land with the Indiana Pacers.
The 6-foot-5 Howard along with fellow D-League player Darnell Jackson, a 6-8 forward with the Reno Bighorns, signed free agent contracts with Indiana, the Pacers announced Tuesday.
Howard was cut from the Pacers' rookie and free-agent camp on July 5.
Howard has played six seasons for the Ants, averaging 16.8 points and 2.8 assists in 198 games.
The former Valparaiso standout averaged 19.1 points, 4.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds last season for the Ants as the team reached the D-League playoffs for the first time after its first winning season (27-25). Howard 23.5 points, 1.5 assists and 3 rebounds in two playoff games, both losses to Santa Cruz.
Howard is a two-time D-League All-Star, and he was the recipient of the Jason Collier Sportsmanship Award, presented to the D-League player who best represents character and conduct on and off the court, after this season.
