Big Ten recognizes Hunt's play

Junior running back Akeem Hunt was recognized by the Big Ten as Co-Special Teams Player of the Week in a release from the conference Monday.

The Covington, Ga., native had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown on the opening kick in Purdue's 20-14 win against Indiana State on Saturday. It was the second kickoff return for a score of Hunt's career. The other came in 2012 against Ohio State.

Hunt racked up 243 all-purpose yards for the Boilermakers, including 82 rushing and 38 receiving yards, as well as 123 kick return yards.

It is the first Player of the Week honor for Hunt and the first for a Purdue player this season.
