Boys & Girls Clubs has learning center

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne now has a 21st Century Community Learning Center at the facility at 2609 Fairfield Ave.

The program is funded by the Indiana Department of Education and provides at-risk students a safe environment during nonschool hours. Activities include tutoring and mentoring, service learning, character education, physical education and recreational activities, and dropout prevention.

The program will initially support students from Fairfield, Harrison Hill, South Wayne and Abbett elementary schools. Children must be part of the Boys & Girls Clubs to participate in the learning center program.

The learning center is currently the only 21st Century Community Learning Center in Fort Wayne, according to a release from the Boys & Girls Clubs.
