Van Wert D.A.R.E. sets fishing derby

The eighth biannual Van Wert County D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Fishing Derby will be Sept. 14-15 at Middle Point Quarry, east of the Village of Middle Point on Middle Point Road.

The event will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the cost is $50 for adults for both days and $30 for one day.

Children ages 10 to 17 pay $25 for both days and $15 for one day.

All fish can be kept, but must be caught from a boat. Fishing from the shore is not permitted.

Prizes for the biggest fish and total weight of five fish will be $50 a day. Proceeds benefit the Van Wert County D.A.R.E. program.
