Council confirmsmoney mistrustI was infuriated to read that Fort Wayne City Council is thinking of spending $2 million of Legacy Fund money on last year’s snow removal. Where is the city’s rainy day fund?

Work share is a positive option for both companies and their employees in times of economic need. It is a voluntary program that allows employers to maintain a skilled and stable workforce during temporary economic downturns.

Students’ bus behavior has mom afraid for future

I was driving down Broadway and was behind a Fort Wayne Community Schools bus. As children poured out of the bus, so did wads of papers out of the windows from both sides. The driver just pulled off, continuing down Broadway to its next stop. As the bus was getting ready to turn onto Wildwood Avenue, a glass object was thrown and almost hit a passing vehicle. Did the bus driver not see what was going on? Are there any regulations if these kinds of things happen?

I called Fort Wayne Community Schools’ student service line. The girl I spoke with said transportation was not answering calls. Isn’t this the busiest time of the day for buses? So I began to tell her what I was witnessing. She cut me off, telling me she does not work in transportation so she could not help me. I called Fort Wayne police, who gladly took the information.

It sickens me that adults and parents are not teaching responsibility to children. It is also scary that the people running the school systems are not practicing or following through with the policies. Parents need to stop being lazy and actually teach their children the basics. Children learn by example. Be a good one. No, be a great one. These kids are our future and, quite frankly, that scares me.
