Indiana 9 crash kills 2

ALEXANDRIA, Ind. – Authorities say two people have died from a head-on crash on a rural highway in central Indiana.

Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said three other people were taken to an Anderson hospital with injuries after the crash on Indiana 9 near the town of Alexandria.

The Herald Bulletin reports ( the crash happened about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday near an intersection of the highway and a county road about 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis. At least one person was trapped in a vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency workers.

Information about the injuries suffered by the crash survivors wasn’t immediately released.
