Arson suspected in Riverhaven fires

Investigators suspect arson is to blame for three blazes reported Sunday morning in Riverhaven, fire officials said Tuesday.

Chuck Lehman, chief investigator for the New Haven-Adams Township Fire Department, said there were no suspects in the fires that burned a vehicle, a pole barn and an attached garage at different addresses shortly before 5 a.m., near Maplecrest and Parrot roads.

The pole barn that burned was in the 900 block of Portola Drive. The fire that destroyed a vehicle and melted the siding of a nearby house was in the 1000 block of Waverly Drive. And the attached garage that caught fire was in the 700 block of Waverly.

Flames engulfed the attached garage and spread into the home. The American Red Cross helped the displaced family. No injuries were reported.
