Sims promoted

Ryan Sims is now an assistant basketball coach for IPFW.

Men's coach Tony Jaskick announced that Sims, the director of basketball operations last year, has been promoted to assistant coach, and former Mastodon standout John Peckinpaugh has been named a graduate manager.

"Putting together a coaching staff is critical to the continued growth of our program," Jasick said in a statement. "I am excited about working with these guys as we look to build on our record-setting success. There is no doubt that seeing our student-athletes succeed on and off the court is a shared priority of the entire coaching staff."

Sims, who played at Bowling Green and the University of Indianapolis, was a McDonald's All-American nominee his senior year at Snider, where he played for his father, Ray Sims. As a senior, he averaged 20 points and six assists per game.

Peckinpaugh graduated from IPFW in 2012 after playing in 107 games in his career. He ended his career with 303 rebounds and 51 steals. A Muncie Central graduate, he spent a last season on the coaching staff at Indiana Tech.
