Errors, hits snowball in favor of Fort Wayne

The TinCaps keep making contact, and the balls keep dropping in their favor at Parkview Field. Fort Wayne has a 10-6 lead over Great Lakes with three innings left in the regular season.

The Loons made four errors in their first six innings, all of which resulted in at least one run later in the inning. Those miscues, coupled with some hot hitting, have put Fort Wayne firmly ahead of Great Lakes.

All but one member of the TinCaps batting order, right fielder Brian Adams, has a hit through six innings.

Great Lakes got its first run in the top of the fifth off an error by first baseman Luis Tejada. The Loons put up five more in the top of the sixth off reliever Matthew Chabot, who is the fifth pitcher to toe the mound for the TinCaps today.

Manager Jose Valentin is using this game as a tune-up for his staff as it prepares for the best-of-three playoff series against Bowling Green that begins Wednesday.
