2 accused of firearms dealing

Twenty-two-old Trevor Rodriguez and 20-year-old Hayley VanDurman were indicted this week by a federal grand jury in Fort Wayne, accused of selling firearms and ammunition to a person known to have a felony conviction.

The eight-count indictment also charges Rodriguez with distributing a controlled substance, possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, maintaining a place for the purpose of drug trafficking, and four additional counts of selling a firearm to a known felon, according to court documents.

This month, federal agents arrested Rodriguez on a criminal complaint.

According to court documents, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives began investigating Rodriguez in April after agents received information he offered to sell an Uzi.

Over the next few months, while agents watched, they saw Rodriguez sell a .45-caliber handgun along with a high-capacity magazine; a MAK-90, which is similar to an AK-47, along with another high-capacity magazine; a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun, a Hawk 12-gauge shotgun; and a .357 revolver.

Rodriguez also sold marijuana to the same person on a number of occasions, court records said.

VanDurman was named in the earlier documents but was not charged at the time.
