City player signs with Ontario juniors team

Blake Siebenaler of Fort Wayne has signed to play with the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League, one of the top junior leagues in the world, he confirmed on Twitter.

A 6-foot-1, 180-pound defenseman, he played for Carroll's club team in 2011, leading it to the Class 4A state championship.

He has since played for the Cleveland Barons Under-16 midget team, the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League and the Belle Tire Under-16 midget team.

With Cleveland, he had five goals and 12 points in 40 games. With the Ice, he had one goal and three points in 11 games. And with Belle Tire, he tallied nine goals and 18 points in 39 games.

This year, he was on the United States' Under-17 National Development team and played four games in international competition.

The IceDogs picked him in the 15th round of the 2012 OHL draft.

Siebenaler, 17, will be eligible for the NHL draft next year.
