Break-in, attack on deputy draw 4-year sentence

ANGOLA, Ind. – A northeastern Indiana man who punched a deputy in the face following a break-in at a gas station has been sentenced to four years in prison.

Tyler Allen Hampton Osborn of Angola was sentenced Monday in Steuben Superior Court after pleading guilty to burglary and resisting arrest.

The Herald Republican reports ( that Osborne, 26, received four years for the burglary, with two years suspended, and another two years for resisting arrest.

Prosecutors said Osborn punched a Steuben County Sheriff’s deputy on March 11 as the officer approached Osborn after he broke into a gas station in Angola.

That attack left the trooper with facial injuries.
