Condition improves for injured Columbia City player

Sam Dailey

Columbia City senior running back/linebacker Sam Dailey has been upgraded to fair condition, Lutheran Hospital officials and Dailey's family confirmed Tuesday.

Dailey had been in critical condition since a head injury suffered during the third quarter of the Eagles' 33-14 loss at Warsaw.

He was eventually taken to Lutheran Hospital and had surgery to relieve pressure on his brain, Eagles coach Randy Hudgins said Saturday.

Hudgins said Dailey was injured while trying to make a tackle.
