Robbery count filed in gas station holdup

Police have arrested a 46-year-old man on charges of robbing a gas station in north Fort Wayne.

Authorities allege that Kevin Lyons approached a clerk behind the counter of the Lassus Handy Dandy station at Lima and West Washington Center roads.

Lyons demanded $40 and threatened to shoot the clerk while reaching into his pants, suggesting he had a gun, according to court papers.

The clerk complied, and Lyons fled with the cash, court papers stated. Police were dispatched to the store about 3:15 a.m. Thursday.

The clerk told police he had seen Lyons in a red four-door car; officers found a car matching that description just west of the store, court papers said.

After learning the car was registered to Lyons, police went to his home later that morning and found him. The clerk identified Lyons as the robber, court papers stated.

Lyons, of the 3400 block of Bramblewood Lane, was being held Friday at the Allen County Jail on a preliminary charge of robbery. His bail was $10,000.
