No injuries reported in south-end home fire

A house on Lafayette Street sustained moderate fire, smoke and water damage early Friday, the Fort Wayne Fire Department reported.

The fire department responded to a fire at 3:09 a.m. at 4201 Lafayette St. Firefighters discovered that the lone occupant had left the home before their arrival. Firefighters had the fire under control in 10 minutes.

The house next door was also damaged by the fire.

There were no reports of injuries, and two pets were rescued from the home, officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
