Cadets start season in style

The Concordia volleyball team entered the 2013 SAC tournament Thursday and Saturday at North Side having played no other matches this season.

The Cadets left with four matches (all wins) and a tournament title.

And Concordia had only one week of two-a-day practices before starting school a couple of weeks ago and didn't make its season debut until Thursday.

"You could see that in our Thursday matches, that we were still not clicking," coach Trish Miller said. "It is great to see that improvement."

Concordia beat Bishop Dwenger 31-29, 25-21 in the finals.

"Coming in here, we were shaky and a little on the edge because we had pre-game jitters, and we were tired of playing each other in the gym," junior Tionna Williams said.
