TinCaps making million-dollar plans

The TinCaps want to make you a millionaire.

Fort Wayne's single-A team is anticipating welcoming its 2 millionth fan to Parkview Field before the end of the year, and the TinCaps want to give that fan a chance to win $2 million.

The TinCaps will have one more homestand, Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 against Great Lakes, and are guaranteed a home playoff game on Sept. 5 after they finish their series against South Bend tonight.

Parkview Field, which opened in 2009, had greeted 1,598,923 entering this season, and the TinCaps currently sit 25,286 shy of hitting 2 million fans.

When the 2 millionth fan enters the ballpark, that person will be given the chance to win $2 million after the game.

"We will reveal more details as we approach the milestone game. Part of the fun of this promotion is the element of surprise," TinCaps president Mike Nutter said in a statement today. "We can say that the TinCaps 2 millionth fan can be from 2 to 102 years old and still have a chance at taking home the $2 million jackpot. You won't have to hit a home run or throw 100 miles per hour."

The TinCaps also announced that right-handed pitcher Jorge Guzman was placed on the disabled list, and right-hander Josh Richardson was called up from Short Season-A Eugene.
